Fresh apples
Poland is the biggest producer of apples in the EU. As of the 2016 onwards on average of 3 Million Metric tons of apples are produced annually , which is approx. 26-30% share in the collection of the EU and also making them the 3rd highest producer of Fresh apples globally. For no other reason is Poland known as the “Orchard of Europe”.
Also, they stand 2nd in production of industrial apples produced for the production of juice, concentrate, and other confectioneries based on apples.
Polish apples are grown in a very natural environment. They represent more than 80 % of the fruit production of the Country. The main varieties are Royal Gala, Red Jonaprince, Idared, Champion, Jonagored, Gloster, the Golden Delicious, Mutsu and many others. Poland apples have now found various new export market, apart from their traditional markets like the Russian Federation and EU countries, Poland apples are now in markets of UAE, India, China, Vietnam, Singapore and other far east Asian countries.
Royal Gala
This variety of apples are considered the “premium” and king of Apples cultivated in Poland, they are well coloured, covered with marble-like orange or orange-red, bright flush, with smooth skin. Oval or conical fruit, small or medium-sized. The pulp is sweet and very tasty, aromatic and crisp. Crunchy and juicy, royal gala is a variety loved by one and all.The fruit also has a high pressure making it comfortable for long distance export and has a good shelf life.
Red Delicious
Red Chief/Delicious is popular for its dark red colour with tan freckles. It has a yellow-white flesh with medium firmness and very sweet taste. Red Chief has a dark red overtone. This crunchy, juicy apple with a sweet flavour is elongated in shape and comes in medium to large sizes
Golden Delicious

Red Jonaprince
The variety of apple which has a beautiful texture and coloration, giving a beautiful appearance due to its rich texture and red colour. The fruit is large, rounded conical in shape. The pulp is sweet, crisp and very juicy.
These apples reach their colouring very early and get deeply red. their with average diameter of 75-85 mm and spherically conical in shape. Their skin is glossy and smooth, in 95 to 100 % covered with intensive, diffused, crimson flush. Even at the shaded side of the tree or within its crown. The Red Jonaprince fruit contains more sugars and is more firm than other “Jona” varieties. The Red Jonaprince variety contains high contents of an anticancer component – the anthocyanins. The flesh is firmly dense, very hard, creamy-yellow, sweet and sour, aromatic, and of high taste qualities
Red Jonaprince is also a high-pressured variety enabling it for export to distant markets and having long shelf quality and tasty look.
Jonagored
This fruit is rounded-conical in shape, comes in sizes usually of medium or large. The pulp is sweet and slightly sour, juicy, with a texture and colour mostly of a mix of yellowish and red,.It is good for consumption either when fresh or home processed into marmalade or stewed fruit. Kept The apples can be stored for about 4 months after picking.
Idared
Idared is a hybrid from the varieties of Wagener and Jonathan. The fruit is round, usually medium-sized and with a lovely blood red colour with a natural shiny texture, giving it a very attractive appearance. The taste is can be slightly sour but also sweet depending on the crop, but overall a very juicy, slightly creamy, and lesser crunchy in taste. Idared is a very strong apple and has a long shelf life, hence this variety can also be a good export variant. It’s also nicknamed “the tank” due to its strong resistance.
